12.23pm What a morning session after a couple of weeks of one-sided fares here in Australia. Cummins won the toss, elected to bowl and couldn’t have asked for more when South Africa were tottering at 27 for 4. Since then, however, Verreynne and Bavuma have played some solid cricket. They’ve left well, gone after bad balls and have also been aided by slices of luck, like that missed run out chance of Verreynne when Head missed a direct hit at the striker’s end. All said, Australia wouldn’t be too disappointed by what they see on the scoreboard. We’ll be back in 40 minutes for the post-lunch session.
